When did you join CrossFit Orpington?

Why did you originally join?
I was struggling to commit to the gym and liked the idea of classes without being surrounded by mirrors! I find it easier to commit myself to going when I know that there is a WOD ready and I don’t have to think about what to do or focus on.
Was it what you expected?
It was better than I expected. I read a lot of reviews about different ones, and Orpington had the best reviews! The support from everyone is amazing, and learning how to even use a Barbell, from racking it to lifting it, was all new to me, as that area in a normal gym is quite intimidating.
What changes have you experienced since joining?
I feel fitter internally, and have started noticing changes I never had before physically!
What are you most proud of?
All of the lifting I have learnt and PBs I have gotten since joining, as well as increasing my arm and back strength.
What has been the biggest challenge?
Definitely finding the time to do a class, I am a busy person, and I never say no to going out with friends. As well as the recovery, sometimes I need more than 1 day of recovery when I feel like I can’t walk, but I am trying to sort my protein intake out, which I hope helps with this.
Looking forward, what goals or ambitions do you have at the moment?
Be able to do at least 1 strict pull-up before my 1-year mark!
What advice would you give to your past self, or perhaps someone else who’s considering their fitness journey?
1 thing I have learnt from CrossFit is that no one cares what you look like! – If you feel self-conscious when working out, CrossFit will get rid of that, as everyone focuses on themself, and if you do a movement incorrectly, everyone is there to help you put it right!
