Why Do the Workouts Seem Different Now?

CrossFit consists of constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.

The term “constantly varied” makes the workouts enjoyable and balanced. However, this doesn’t mean the workouts are random or unfocused. Members in our PT program have workouts specifically designed for them, while those in our group program receive tailored workouts based on the group’s results.

During late summer and autumn, our group workouts at CrossFit Orpington concentrated on skill acquisition and strength building. We included plenty of aerobic and HIIT work, but our main focus was on building a strong foundation.

Now, we are shifting our focus to longer-duration metabolic conditioning (often referred to as METCON). Some of this shift is to prepare for the Open, while other workouts are aimed at getting ready for the summer! Additionally, some sessions are designed to help combat the winter blues. METCON sessions are FUN and bring plenty of smiles and high-fives!

Rest assured, our strength training will not disappear. Strength training is crucial for improving your running and speed—it forms the foundation of your fitness. It’s here to stay!

Over the next several months, get ready for more repetitions, increased speed, and more high-fives than ever before.

See you at the box!

Keep it simple, and then go work out!
